Imagine Teacher DS

Today we’re going to walk you through the experience of playing Imagine Teacher on DS. As i play the game, I’ll explain what I have to do to give you an indepth idea of the game everyone is wants to play... well some people want to play.

I turn the Nintendo DS on and tap my way past Nintendo’s ridiculously over the top health and safety warning. You know, I think there are many more dangerous items in the house that don’t require a health and safety warning every time you use them, such as a knife or a kettle. Actually even toys given 5 year olds can potentially be used more danergously than a DS. I know a 6 year old that swallowed a pound coin. They don’t come with health and safety warnings, but he’s on his DS all the time and has never even had to visit his GP about it.

Imagine Teacher is Licenced by Nintendo for the DS of course and presented by Ubisoft the next screen tells me. Ubisoft make the Rayman games. That’s all I can remember about them.

On to Imagine Teacher DS properly now. The top DS screen displays a still picture of the in game characters. Your character is at the front. She is a trendy young teacher wearing jeans and a t-shirt and a funky hair cut. She is not anything like the picture on the front of the game box though. The game box has a photo of a woman which makes little sense as the whole game is animated in a very cartoonish manner.

Behind the teacher are her pupils. Surprisingly for what seems to be a small out of town school, there is one child from each ethnic origin! Imagine Teacher can’t be accused of being politically incorrect. Behind them is the head teacher who for some reason has a face so large it gives the impression that he could store a few of the children in his cheeks.

On the lower screen I’m given 4 options while we virtually fly around the bizarre pink and blue Imagine Teacher DS school in 3D in the background. The options are: New Game, Continue, Options, and Multiplayer. I’ll pick New Game.

First I must pick a profile (DS save game file). Now the top screen says Week 1, while the bottom screen says Monday Morning. Tap the screen. Our teacher stands in front of the school as she arrive and notes that the school is new and the playground is empty. She really wasn’t expecting that! The head teacher asks if I’m Miss Katie. He’s been expecting me. The Head teacher’s name in Imagine Teacher is Mr. Coddleton. For some reason it’s easier to talk in his office. He tells you that before the new mayor was elected there was no school. He then tells you he’s going to retire and you’ll be the new headmaster. A good promotion having only worked their 2 minutes. Apparently this trendy new school has been built for just four children. Council taxes must be through the roof! I can’t see that mayor lasting long in his job.
